The UK Years
At 6pm on
Friday November 29th 1971 I was born in
Farnborough Hospital, Farnborough, England. At 8 pounds I
wasn't a lightweight.
Here's a
few pics of my early days.

Err...
looks like I had a pretty abrupt introduction
into the world and I guess England was a bit of a
severe country to be born into. But hey, I still
call it home. And yeah, I'm so old that my
first photo's are black'n'white.
But that's
OK, at least I wasn't born in the 60's.

| Being the first born of my
parents (Peggy & Brian) I was lucky enough to
cop all the attention for my first 5 years. |

From an early age I got into
my sports. Here I am at the helm of a launch that
my parents rented. We cruised up and down the
Thames for a couple of weeks. Nice little holiday
that, I fully recommend it. |
| While up in Scotland I got
to check out the big cannons. I wonder if Dad
knew I had a book of matches in my nappies? |

Archery
plays a big part in my family, with my Granny
(Mum's mum) a World Champ and Grandpa (Mum's dad)
her coach.
Grandpa
was a pioneer in fiberglass bows and crossbows.
He was trying to use military class epoxy resins
to laminate wood between layers of fiberglass for
bows and the limbs on crossbows. He also had a
small manufacturing business, turning out a
variety of archery equipment.
Back
in New Zealand my whole family has been involved
in one of the local Archery Clubs, Dad's the only
one still competing and attended the World
Masters Games in 1994 in Australia.

| Well the beaches aren't
always up to much in Weston Supermare, but you
just can't put a good pair of gummies down.
Equally with a pair of mittens (tied on of
course) and a woolly belaclava, any piece of wet
sand can be a beach. |

Well
unfortunately my parents decided to head back to
New Zealand (Mum's a POME and met Dad in NZ) so I
can't say that I have any great memories of
England. I have been fortunate enough to have
been back when I was 12. But that's another page. |
